Student Stories

''I studied Social Media and PR for one year at City of Dublin FET College, Rathmines. The teachers and staff are truly top class, using their own professional expertise and a hands on, caring attitude. I have progressed to a degree in Communications in DCU and I would really recommend QQI Level 5 courses as an alternative route for getting to university. Rathmines College really helps you reach your highest potential while also prioritising wellbeing through college activities. The modules are the perfect balance between practical and theory based. I always felt like I was learning something useful for my future career and gaining real experience.''

Ciara McCloskey City of Dublin FET College, Rathmines

I am a City of Dublin FET College Ballyfermot, Ballyfermot Road graduate (class of ’22). I completed my studies in animation here and I can declare, with pride and full confidence, that I received one of the finest artistic educations in Ireland. During my years as a student on both the illustration, and classical and computer animation Higher Diplomas, as well as on the visual media BA program to follow, the range of subjects taught were, and remain well-considered. I was not only motivated, challenged, and supported by my various mentors, but I was equally able to find myself in a creative space that felt like an extension of home. I am now honoured to teach at the college myself and it has thus far been a privilege to work alongside my own wonderful, former teachers and, equally, meet the newest waves of incoming students with whom I can share my knowledge and past experiences

City of Dublin FET College Youthreach North Great George’s Street was the stepping stone I needed to get to where I want to be. I completed my QQI level 4 here, and I achieved Distinctions in every subject. I then went on to study ‘Criminology, Law and Social Studies’ in City of Dublin FET College Ballsbridge College. The experiences I had at City of Dublin FET College Youthreach North Great George’s St are ones I will never forget. I’d always felt passionate about learning, however I’m more determined than ever to push myself to achieve my goals and pursue my dreams.

I’ve been attending City of Dublin FET College Captain’s Road for two years now. I’m studying History, Gardening, and Irish at the moment. I find it really good, I’ve made a lot of friends, and the tutors are excellent. I feel since I’ve retired, I’ve gotten a lot out of it {community education}. It takes me out of my shell, and I’ve learned a lot of things I didn’t even know. It’s very good for meeting people. I would thoroughly recommend it for anybody; it gets you off your chair, and into the college.

Gerry Griffin City of Dublin FET College, Captain’s Road

In my opinion I enjoy working with the instructor on the Digital Skills for the Modern Office course because of his sense of humour.  I find he lets the students learn at their own pace and offers extra support if necessary. The one thing I most appreciate is the extra guidance he gives us for further down the road in the future.
